Jakarta DWP Plants 400 Mangrove Seeds on Untung Jawa Island

The city-funded Jakarta Women and Children Empowerment Integrated Service Center (Dharma Wanita Persatuan) held an environmental conservation action by planting 400 Mangrove tree seeds on Untung Jawa Island, South Seribu Islands, on Tuesday (8/23). It was directly led by Jakarta DWP Chairwoman Komariah Marullah.

At that time, they were also releasing 50 clownfishes and handing over social aid in the form of 24 packs of seeds and two kilograms of hydroponic vegetable nutrition to two farmer groups on Untung Jawa Island.

"This Mangrove planting aims to preserve the environment around Untung Jawa Island. It is realized in collaboration with the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Parekraf) and Seribu Islands Regency," she stated.

Thousand Islands Promotes Environmental Preservation in Developing Tourism

It was participated by 50 people, consisting of caretakers of Jakarta DWP, Parekraf Agency DWP, and Seribu Islands DWP.

"Hope it is useful for the environment in Seribu Islands, especially Untung Jawa Island," she hoped.

Seribu Islands Regent Junaedi expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Jakarta DWP for visiting and seeing the progress of the region, especially on Untung Jawa Island. Their visit could also be a promotional event for marine tourism in Seribu Islands.

"They also help the economy of the residents here by buying products from local SMEs," he explained.

As for the information, besides Untung Jawa Island, they were also scheduled to visit Bidadari, Cipir, and Onrust islands.
